a moment of respite

as summer rages
every drop of rain arrives
as a precious pearl

precious diamonds

with a drop of dew-
rising with the sun comes the
dawn of a new day

a drop of dew now
sits silently glancing at
a passing moment

plunging from great heights
each drop now screams to be heard
louder than thunder

now holding the moon
the child dares not spill a drop
of magic water.

can the heart of mountains break
in winter’s cold grip
