Before me, I see leaves in the wind
brought low by growing ambitions.
Once they clung to extended branches
that drew my gaze towards heaven;
where days were long and bright
and nights were filled with endless stars.
But in their search for clarity that a
supporting trunk proclaimed existed
the leaves dared to race against time,
only to be scarred by the seasons.
Now rooted in dreams no more,
like tattered laurels, the leaves are cast
aside by wild and unkind winds.
Though fate did play a merry tune once
but untethered to supporting limbs
the passing wind did change their vantage.
Just as all must shrivel and die
so too must leaves when left un-nurtured.
leaves
A gathering shadow
Standardswaying with the wind
crows gather like leaves to share
the growing darkness
there is much to find
Standardlet the wind count my
blessings rather than the dead
leaves of past autumn
a cold day
Standardmy old wrinkly hands
like leafless trees you shiver
in the cold, cold wind
Much to share
Standardstay a while, O Wind
let us share the colours and
leaves of days gone bye
a worthless pursuit
Standardyou are hopeless, wind
you spend so much time swaying
trees instead of hearts
a sight to behold
Standardfallen but not forgotten
Standardthe radiant sun- Tanka
Standarda show of colours
Standardshowing due respect
Standardwords carry influence
Standarda natural melody
Standardtoo cold to care
Standardhaunting memories
Standarda playful moment
Standarda broken silence
Standardwhat a way to go
Standardstealing a kiss
StandardDefiant to the last
Standard
shielding me from rain
a canopy of red leaves
defying autumn
