No one is perfect, let us be respectful.

 

The voice of reason is often said to be carried
by winds to distant shores to enlighten those
left too long in the shadow of ignorance.
But the truth is not so pleasant,
for what blows across tempestuous oceans
not only carries wisdom, but also
the weight of prideful dust sprinkled with conceit.
Being often plagued with misperception,
the hot air that rises to take up high moral ground,
can also find itself fall as easily as rain that gathers
from the shadows of its own darkened clouds.

My thanks to the past

It struck me the other day that I am now a veteran of just over two weeks of blogging.

Having generally only written for personal pleasure before this, I am beginning to appreciate the amount of effort and care that goes into creating a meaningful public blog. Those of you who have contributed so much to the “Blog world” have my admiration and attention.

There is so much passion out there that it is a struggle to sometimes keep ones personal opinions from invading public space, I am learning from “The error of my ways” .

Learning to reach and keep an audience’s attention is a new experience that I cherish. Although I am mindful of what is liked out there, in truth I mainly focus on what grabs my attention at the time and hope that others like minded will be drawn to me. I am resigned to the fact “I cannot be all things to all men.”

Like most people in this world, I have to admit that I have not had a single thought, done a single piece of art, and not contributed a single piece of material original enough to be remembered by posterity. Like most people, I am the product of the “Education” instilled in me, I subconsciously plagiaries, though not in detail but in substance. And if I have failed to give others their dues, I ask for forgiveness and hope they are able to look at it in positive light; as a compliment to their achievements.

Just like the image of the Avatar I drew, in the likeness of Pegasus, although it has my distinct touches. I drew inspiration from the work of others and who were in turn inspired by others before them. In truth, I would have liked to have met the person who drew the first image of a Pegasus to offer my thanks to him/her for dreaming up such an inspirational creature.

In the spirit of Sir Isaac Newton, I am proud to acknowledge that my accumulated knowledge was gained by “standing upon the shoulders of giants.” Unlike Newton, very few, including myself near the top of the list, can claim to have seen more than others. Of course that doesn’t mean, we shouldn’t or can’t try.

I have over the years been influenced by many writers and philosophers, from North, South, East and West, whose names I wouldn’t have enough space to put down on paper. The finders of knowledge and sharer of thoughts and dreams are truly inspirational. The one observable truth that seems to come out of the writings of most of these great pioneers of knowledge and shapers of human culture are their belief in simplicity at the heart of all things and that’s the message I have attempted to convey .

As Newton puts it “Truth is ever to be found in simplicity, and not in the multiplicity and confusion of things.”

I guess that’s why, in my writings you will find how I revere the “Geniuses” of this world, “The Masters” who pass fleetingly through our history to leave giant footprints for us to follow.

Even if you harbour conflicting views to those that I have expressed in my writings, you have my RESPECT. I always appreciate seeing the other side to an argument.
